The third quarterly meeting for 2008 of the Brookstone HOA will be held at 6 PM on Thursday July 24, 2008. The meeting will take place at the West Park Clubhouse. If you have a topic you would like to discuss at the meeting, please notify Lena Deptolla at PPM LDeptolla@ppmral.com Phone: 919-848-4911 ext. 132 with your agenda item and you will be give time at the beginning of the meeting to present your topic.
The meetings are open to all homeowners and all are encouraged to attend. The following is the Official announcement from the Brookstone Homepage:
Open meeting time to Brookstone Residents will be from 6:00 - 6:30. 15 minutes of the open session time will be reserved for any resident that wishes to address a concern to the board, residents will be given a maximum of 5 minutes to address the board, time will be given on a first come first serve basis. At 6:30, the meeting will enter executive session and be closed to residents.

The Town of Cary issued a Stop Work Order on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 for the Pool Shelter construction project at the Brookstone community pool. Apparently the Board neglected to get a permit before beginning the project. Failure to follow proper permitting procedures can present a safety issue for the community.
The Town takes this issue pretty seriously. According to the Cary, NC Land Development Ordinance:
Violation of a stop work order issued pursuant to G.S. 113A-65.1 shall subject the violator to a penalty of up to $5,000.00 per day.
It also appears that the Board never actually voted to approve the project. The meeting minutes available on the Brookstone website, show that the issue was discussed on several occasions, but no official vote was ever recorded.

The Brookstone annual meeting was held on Thursday, April 24. Congratulations to Danny Sanchez and Ralph Vought for being elected to the Board of Directors. The turnout was massive, with over 205 households participating directly or by proxy. This represents over 50% of all homeowners in the Brookstone subdivision.
The vote count for each candidate was:
Danny Sanchez - 108
Ralph Vought - 100
Matthew Slavis - 95
Greg Fitts - 91
Dave Ingham - withdrew from election
