Stop Work Order issued for pool shelter project
Friday, June 6th, 2008The Town of Cary issued a Stop Work Order on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 for the Pool Shelter construction project at the Brookstone community pool. Apparently the Board neglected to get a permit before beginning the project. Failure to follow proper permitting procedures can present a safety issue for the community.
The Town takes this issue pretty seriously. According to the Cary, NC Land Development Ordinance:
Violation of a stop work order issued pursuant to G.S. 113A-65.1 shall subject the violator to a penalty of up to $5,000.00 per day.
It also appears that the Board never actually voted to approve the project. The meeting minutes available on the Brookstone website, show that the issue was discussed on several occasions, but no official vote was ever recorded.
